Hubby is a motorcycle enthusiast and customizer while I work as a blogger and web content specialist. For quite some time, we have been sharing an old phone but for a change, we’ve decided to hunt for a pair of new phones just in time for my birthday – that’s on the unlucky day of the lucky month (July 13) – and we only have one requirement: They have to be GENIUS phones.

What GENIUS Is

I think it’s that level of “smartness” where one becomes so unique, so extraordinary that he/she/it is able to come up with a relevant invention, a revolutionizing contribution brought about by imagination and observation. While a smart person controls and manages the available resources in order to get the best of whatever it is that is provided to him, the genius thinks out of the box and uses his creativity to discover or invent new things in order to promote the betterment of life and living. Only the genius is capable of stimulating development and only the geniuses come up with eureka moments that will inspire everybody to see that there’s still room for progress and evolution.

That being said, let me tell you about something GENIUS – the LG OPTIMUS.

How Genius Optimus Phones are and How They Make Other Smart Phones Look NOT-SO smart (Some even dumb)

Level Genius – that’s what LG is to me after I saw some videos on the LG Optimus Phones. Just by the model name, the LG Optimus phones make it clear that they’re of a different class in mobile phones. Optimus means the best. It refers to those who belong to the noble class. And, in the battleground of smart phones, `Optimus` stands for the “Level: Genius”.

So what makes a smartphone a genius phone? Watch these videos and then read on why the LG Optimus Black and LG Optimus 2X phones are perfect for hubby and me (or you can just take look at the pictures )..

“SMART” PHONES VS. LG GENIUS PHONES

Plenty of Storage

With the usual smartphone, I’ll only get 256 to 1GB ROM internal memory but with the LG Optimus 2x, I will get at least eight times this capacity at 8 GB storage! That’s plenty of memory – and that even exceeds the storage capacity of my digital camera now! With this, I could store tons of music and a number of movies too and there’s no more boring time when we travel!

What’s more is that if we’ll ever need more storage space, the LG Optimus phones have a microSD card slot and we can add in 32GB of memory. Also, both the LG Optimus 2x and the LG Optimus black have phonebook memories that would let us store unlimited entries and unlimited call and photo call records.

Content Mirroring

With regular smart phones, I would have to wear nerdy eyeglasses with a magnifying effect just to see my phone display clearly – in a brighter, bigger setting. With the genius LG Optimus 2X however, all I would have to do is to try content mirroring because this genius phone is an HDMI device.

HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface. It’s a digital audio/video connector that allows digital data transmission from one HDMI device to another. The LG Optimus 2X has an HDMI-out port on the top which lets us ‘mirror’ the phone display on a larger screen display such as our Smart TV or our computer monitor.

As you can see in the video, this phone can present pictures up to 1080p resolution so I won’t ever have to worry about mirroring blurry or distorted image displays. This feature would be of good use for me because I usually have trouble looking at small screens, especially at night when my night blindness tries to disrupt my everyday routine.

With this HDMI device, I can also have fun making slide presentations for my “students” while I cook or while I travel and then I can have the show presented on a bigger screen for the kids to enjoy. I can find cooking demos, download my fave e-books, and enjoy reading and watching everything in our LED screen.

Clear Images, Bright Phone Display

I have noticed that colors don’t display right on phone screens. The white becomes bluish white and the blacks are not so black. That’s the case even with the so-called smart phones with 3 to 3.5 inch screens. BUT, with the LG Optimus phones, hubby and I can enjoy 4-inch WVGA screens (480 x 800 pixels) which display rich and bright colors, and really black blacks as well.

While the LG Optimus 2X has a sharp and clear Gorilla Glass, the LG Optimus Black has a 4-inch NOVA display that’s bright (700 nits) and energy-efficient too.

This NOVA display will give hubby a clear view of vivid colors even under direct sunlight. With the LG Optimus Black, hubby can browse the web, play awesome mobile games, and check data with zero color distortion and he’ll enjoy excellent, clear display regardless of whether we’re indoors or out enjoying the sun! There’s no more need to hide from all the light just to check what’s on the phone display too.

All in One Life Recorder

Who doesn’t love to take pictures and make videos? Who wouldn’t want to make video calls and feel closer to your loved ones who are miles away from you? Well, with regular smart phones, you can’t expect much. They come with a primary 2 – 3.15 MP (2048×1536 pixels) camera with autofocus (and if they have secondary cams, it will only be a VGA camera!) and with this, I won’t be able to take decent photos for my blog or my Facebook account. So even if I had a so-called smart phone, I would still have to bring a digital camera and a video camera when we go on our family outings.

BUT, if we would have LG Optimus phones, we’ll have EVERYTHING WE’LL NEED! With the LG Optimus Black, Hubby will get a 5 MP (2592 x 1944 pixels) primary camera with autofocus, LED flash PLUS geo-tagging, and face and smile detection features. It can also record videos at 720p@30fps. And, it also has a secondary 2MP Camera.

Now, for me, I’ll get something even much better with the LG Optimus 2X because it comes with an 8 MP primary camera (3264×2448 pixels) with autofocus, LED flash, plus geo-tagging, face and smile detection, touch focus, and image stabilization features. Best of all, I won’t have to bring a video cam everywhere anymore because this LG genius phone will let me enjoy clearer video recording at 1080p@24fps! Here’s a sample of its HD recording…

This genius phone would be all that I’ll need to record my kids’ milestones and gather pictures for my food, fashion, beauty, and entertainment blogs. I can even use it to make tutorials!

Want Fast? Here’s Faster!

The sad fact about mobile phones is that although you can already perform a variety of functions on most models – from web browsing to editing file documents, you can do these things S-L-O-W-L-Y. With “smart” phones however, we believe that they can perform these functions fast because most of them have 624 MHz to 1 GHz Scorpion processor.

If I have Genius phones from LG however, I can get things done FASTER more than ever and I can save time and spend more quality time with my kids. How? With the help of the dual core magic! LG came up with the world’s first dual-core smartphone – the LG Optimus 2X and this runs on Android OS Froyo and it has ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor, ULP GeForce GPU, Tegra 2 chipset. With the LG Optimus phones however, I can say au revoir to file converters and say hello to the fact that it supports an extensive selection of media formats such as DivX, XviD, H.264, MP4 and WMV video, plus MP3, ACC, WAV and WMA audio! No more conversions, no more wasting time! Once I have the file, I can play it right away and enjoy music and movies with my kids! Presto!

Lighter, Thinner, Better Design

Most of the time, smart looks so geeky and old-fashioned. And that even applies to phones. You have probably seen bulky, not-so good looking smart phones which are all brains and no beauty right? But wait till you see the LG Optimus phones. They look sooo sleek and stylish, especially the LG Optimus Black. With a smart phone with Bluetooth 4.0 technology, I would be able to transfer files from one device to another at a maximum distance of 200 feet – and I can also connect up to six devices all at once. It also promises a transfer speed of up to 25Mbps.

On the other hand, with a genius phone like the LG Optimus Black, Hubby will get WiFi Direct! WiFi Direct devices like the LG Optimus Black can connect with each other even at a distance of 650 feet (based on wikipedia)! This genius phone can also communicate with at most eight WiFi Direct devices at a time. Best of all, it’s ten times faster in transmission than Bluetooth. They say that device-to-device file transfer in WiFi Direct can happen at 250Mbps! Now that’s fast right? He can transfer and share files to his friends, have pictures printed, and more – in an instant and simultaneously.  There would be no more need to wait and waste his precious time!
