Our smart TV can’t read subtitles without the aid of a DVD player (so much for being smart) and so one very boring early morning (about 3 am) when my kids were still awake and playing and I cannot work properly, I decided to watch a foreign language film even when it didn’t have subtitles on display. It was a South Korean film – Tidal Wave (해운대 Haeundae).
I don’t know the Korean language but I did enjoy the film. How? Well, I decided to read the movie’s summary on the web while watching it. LOL. Actually, I think another thing which made Tidal Wave easy to understand even without the subtitles is the fact that it was a disaster film. With this type of films, I guess you don’t really need to incorporate too much story in the character’s dialogue. What people need to see are the before and after of the disaster.
