Three gangster movies I enjoyed watching
I am not a big fan of gangster movies although I can always tolerate all the shooting, stabbing, Padron cigars puffing, drug abuse, pointless killings, and other violent and gory stuff that they usually offer. I think I have watched over 10 of them and so far here are my three best gangster movie picks.
The Departed. Leonardo DiCaprio is the undercover cop doubling as a mafia criminal and Matt Damon is the undercover criminal who has infiltrated the police department. Both try to hide their double identities while trying to prove their loyalties both to the authorities and to the syndicate head which is played by one of my fave actors – Jack Nicholson.

Gangs of New York. I find the bit of history intriguing, as well as the actors and the characters they portrayed. In this movie, Leonardo di Carpio portrays the son who is seeking vengeance for his father’s death. Daniel Day Lewis is the leader of the gang which di Caprio plants to kill and Cameron Diaz is the love interest.

American Gangster – I have always enjoyed Denzel Washington movies and that is why I watched this one – BUT, it is not the only reason why I enjoyed it. In the movie, Washington plays the role of a rising drug lord and gang leader and he’s being investigated and “chased” by Russel Crowe. What I like about the movie is the refreshing idea that gangs could also adopt a certain code of ethics with a sense of respect and discipline – a code which is more admirable than that which most cops follow.
